Less than a year after the opening of Usain Bolt’s new training track at University of the West Indies UWI, Mona Campus), Regupol has completed another athletic track project in Jamaica. Regupol built (in a record time of approx. 4 months) a new tartan athletic track at the National Stadium which is a part of the “Independence Park” sports and cultural complex in Kingston, Jamaica.

The opportunity to install the new track happened primarily because of the outstanding experience the Jamaican athletes have experienced with the track at the Mona Campus. Additionally the Jamaican sports ministry was impressed by Regupol’s fast and trouble-free installation process at the UWI facility, which now serves as the home training ground of Usain Bolt and Coach Glenn Mills’ Racers Club.

The National Stadium project included the removal of the worn-out track as well as laying a new asphalt surface to meet IAAF standards. The new track color is “Bolt Blue” which reflects the color used in Usain Bolt’s training track and the track at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium where Bolt shattered two world records..

On March 12 the track hosted its first international competition as high level athletes
competed in the 2011 Gibson Relays.
