In future, sustainable business and industrial operations with the best possible protection for the environment will become more important than ever before. A company’s success and future prospects will no longer be gauged solely by economic parameters. For a large processor of secondary raw materials, it will be no different. We have accurately determined our carbon footprint and constantly endeavour to reduce our energy consumption. All the company’s building have undergone energy efficient refurbishment. Modern control and lighting technology help to save electricity. A fleet of modern vehicles endures mobility and transport with low emissions. A lot has been achieved but more can be done. We’re working on it.

In the 1950s, the then brand new material PU-foam was very expensive. Complete utilization of every production would have made good sense. The conventional industrial production processes for the material were not – and are still not – geared to this and considerable quantities of left-over material were simply disposed of. Our company was founded in 1954 for the very purpose of processing these left over materials into rebounded or composite foam. The great success of this versatile material led to a constant stream of new products being developed, soon on the basis of other residual, elastic materials, such as rubber, cork, and EVA. With vastly improved technology and on a much larger scale, the idea of the company founders is still being pursued by the Group’s around 700 employees. REGUPOL is one of Germany’s biggest recyclers, supplies around 80 countries every year and is present in important markets with its own subsidiaries. The proportion of recycled material amounts to 90% in most products. Circular Economy works when products based on it can compete with new products – something we have been proving for 65 years. We still have a lot of plans and we have the experience to make them happen. The next step will be to take back products of our own and for reprocessing. This will dramatically increase the utilization period of our own resources, enabling us to dramatically reduce our use of nature’s resources. Join us on our journey.

 

Yes, it is. Since it was founded in 1954, the company has been involved almost exclusively in recycling elastic raw materials, such as rubber, EVA and PU-foam. That has made REGUPOL one of the largest recyclers of such materials in the world. Recycling was the purpose of the company from the outset, even at a time when the term itself was largely unknown. That makes REGUPOL a pioneer in circular economy.

That varies from product to product. Typically, REGUPOL consists of between 75 -95 % of recycled materials. The same applies for the sports mats sector. Regufoam® is manufactured from genuine raw materials. For some products, additional features are available, such as surface coating, which are also made of primary raw materials.

 

Yes, the company has been certified continuously since 1997 will maintain this certification in future.

 

Yes, they do. The regulation is designed to encourage public authorities to give preference to products manufactured using recycled materials when purchasing or using materials and durable goods. We expect that this clearly worded regulation will help make government activities more sustainable.

 

Yes, in 2016 we compiled a balance for our production site with the help of the energy efficiency agency in North-Rhine Westphalia, in which we showed all our company’s direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions in CO2-equivalents.

 

 

All employees in Germany are paid in line with the collective agreement for the chemical industry and REGUPOL is a pre-qualified company. We attach great importance to cooperative degree courses, which is why we always have a larger number of people doing their training courses in the company.
